  • Abstract
This paper establishes the ring width chronology for pine (pinus tabulaeo frmis), and the four density chronologies for the early wood, late wood, maximum and minimum in Zhungeer County, Inner Mongolia. Correlative analysis of chronology displays that tree-ring density contains more complex climate change information than the width does. Through tree-ring chronologies and meteorological data related to the density analysis, the paper shows that there is good correlation between the density tree-ring chronology in Zhungeer County and the annual precipitation in the region; there is negative correlation between the early wood density and minimum density and the rainfall; there is significantly positive correlation between maximum latewood density and the rainfall. A reasonable explanation can be given to both the positive and negative correlation from a physiological point of view of the trees.
