Abstract :
In this paper, we show how computational methods can help attaining uniformity in interpretation, a valuable asset in the legal field, and even a duty itself in our use case of choice: the 1980 Vienna Sales Convention (CISG). We investigate the common ground between traditional and computational models and describe some tools for the representation and interpretation of the CISG terminology that can be stored and understood by both humans and computer programs (i. e., XML, Akoma Ntoso, OWL Web Ontology Language). We also investigate how more sofisticated AI tools e. g. the formalization of legal rules and arguments could be used for the same purpose.
