Abstract
The impedance characteristics of an L-probe fed patch antenna and arrays mounted on a finite solid conducting cylinder is accurately analysis by the electric field integral equation (EFIE) in conjunction with the method of moments (MOM). A special attachment mode where the L-probe is connected with the surface of the cylinder is introduced. The purpose of using the attachment mode is to guarantee the continuity of current at the wire/surface junction. It is shown this method is efficient. The input impedance of each port in the patch antenna arrays is computed and the mutual coupling between ports is analysis. The results are useful for designing wideband smart-antenna arrays for future mobile-communication systems.
