Abstract :
AMC (adaptive modulation and coding) is an important technology adopted by IEEE 802.16. Based on AMC, we introduce a frequency domain scheduling and subchannel resource allocation algorithm (FDSA) in this paper for IEEE 802.16 OFDMA systems. According to this algorithm which is applied in physical layer, the paper also proposes a simple AMC link adaptive mechanism. In different conditions, the throughput performance simulation results among PUSC, AMC without FDSA, and AMC with FDSA are also shown in both downlink (DL) mode and uplink (UL) mode. Comparison among this mechanism with AMC under other modulations and code rates and PUSC shows link adaptive mechanism can give a dramatic improvement for IEEE 802.16 OFDMA systems.
