Abstract :
Fingerprint recognition is one of the most important technologies of the biometrics identification. As a convenient, fast and security method for personal identification, it has been widely used in many fields. The edge detection is an important part of the Fingerprint recognition; it has a serious influence on the thinner and the character extraction of the images, and finally effects the matching of the images. This paper introduces some edge detection operators and compares their characteristics and performances. At last the experiment show that each algorithm has its advantages and disadvantages, and the suitable algorithm should be selected according the characteristic of the images detected, so that it can perform perfectly.
