  • Abstract
    In order to obtain the measurement information and monitor the galloping on overhead power transmission lines, calculation method for angle of transverse galloping on overhead transmission lines based on image and vision analysis is proposed in this paper. First, the image with transmission lines is acquired by a video camera fixed on the tower. The electric cables of given number are detected within the area designed in advance. Meanwhile, the corresponding parameters are gained through curve fitting method. After that, the correlation between the track parameters and galloping angle is determined, with a simplified model of transverse galloping is adopted. Finally, the galloping angle is figured out. Therefore, a new thought on dynamic monitoring and information recording for galloping study is presented. Experimental results have demonstrated the efficiency of our method and it can be implemented in real-time.
