  • Abstract
The ecological irrigation district and ecological irrigation district health are two different conceptions. This paper proposed that “sustainable high productivity, rational development and efficient utilization of resources, environmental sound, ecosystem stability, harmony between human and nature is a healthy eco-irrigation district,” the concept of eco-irrigation district meets the demand of human ecosystems, agriculture and aquatic ecosystems and auxiliary agricultural ecosystems. Such concept includes double meaning: on the one hand, it is necessary to ask human to maintain a reasonable extent for the development and utilization of irrigation district, to protect the sustainable utilization of water and soil resources; on the other hand, it is indispensable to protect and restore irrigation district ecosystems, leaving its circumstance in a suitable health level. In this framework, it is essential to call for establishing the limits for water and soil development and utilization of irrigation district, and serious degradation of irrigation district ecosystems, the former restrict the behavior of human to develop and utilize soil and water resources, the latter which provide human with early warning in protecting the environment and ecology.
