  • Abstract
    In power system, any fault may cause the damages of power equipments and even leads to large area blackout. To avoid similar accident, it is important to periodically inspect whether the power equipment needs to be repaired or replaced. The common fault in power equipment is corona discharge, but some of these faults neglected by workers in the shelter of the inner power equipment often cause the power accidents. A kind of UV detection system with embedded computer is presented in the paper. The corona discharge will radiate ultraviolet signal that is the basic sign for the diagnosis of corona discharge. Comparing with traditional methods of detection, UV detection system with high sensitive UV sensor and camera can not only detect the UV signal radiated from corona discharge, but also locate the fault point by visual images.
