  • Abstract
    This paper proposes a method for analysis and design of the coupling transformer in the new bridge-type solid state fault current limiter (SSFCL). magnetic-circuit coupled FEM is used to investigate the transformer under power system. Being different from the traditional design rule, the proposed transformer is designed under special way. It not only results in the SSFCL run in the power net effectively, but also limits the short-circuit current substantially. Comparing with the normal transformer and SSFCL, the new one has many advantages, such as small volume, low cost, and has good application prospect.
