Abstract :
A general control system is presented for a PWM (pulse width modulation) voltage converter connected to AC mains. The same system can also be applied to the current converter or to the traditional controlled rectifier. Several PWM generation techniques can be used. The system permits both modulation index control and phase shift control with excellent performance. It is implemented in an inexpensive digital circuit with practically instantaneous response to variations of the two control variables
