Abstract :
In this paper, we proposed a novel Tree type multiplexer(MUX). Conventional tree-type MUX needs extreme high speed-single phase global clock which is usually difficult to produce. The proposed MUX can operate the same data rate with conventional MUX, but it needs only to apply low frequency multi-phase clock. So it is suitable for ring oscillator based PLL. Beside, it consumes lower power and area. The MUX is integrated with a 5Gbps LVDS transmitter which has been simulated in 0.18 CMOS technology. The MUX output data jitter is 4ps and the power consumption is 50 mW. The whole LVDS transmitter output jitter is 15ps and the power consumption is 80mW.
