Abstract
A general solution for the scattering of a plane wave by nonconfocal dielectric-coated conducting elliptic cylinders is presented. To check the accuracy of the computation, the backscattering echo width of a plane wave incident on a dielectric-coated conducting circular cylinder is considered. The radius of the conducting cylinder is taken to be 0.15 lambda , while the outer radius of the coating dielectric of epsilon /sub r/=6 varies from 0.156 lambda to 0.66 lambda . The results agree fairly well with those of C. Tang (1957).<>
