Abstract
This study considers the effects of stator and rotor pole tapering on the electromagnetic torque of switched reluctance motors (SRM) and increasing pole arcs with taperings. It is found that only the stator pole tapering has any significant impact on shaping the electromagnetic torque and self-inductances whereas the rotor pole tapering is of no consequence
