Abstract :
Selected novel trends in numerical modelling of multi-physics problems rooting in heavy-current electrical engineering are presented. Discussed are their mathematical models and advanced aspects of their numerical solutions (monolithic approach, multi-mesh technologies, full hp-adaptivity, hanging nodes, combination of different types of elements, processing of strong non-linearities, parallel computing and others). Some of them are illustrated with two typical examples calculated using our own application Agros2D and also available professional codes such as COMSOL Multiphysics.
