Abstract
The data communication between network nodes can be realized over more than one transmission path. These paths can be utilized in different ways; either to obtain better throughput or to obtain redundancy of transmitted data. The purpose of this paper is to present an analysis of the innovative two-path data transmission scheme with the focus on data redundancy. The proposed scheme uses a network coding technique to manipulate data within packets and specific internal logic for the reconstruction of lost data. An analysis of this scheme is made with a focus on mean packet delay and transmission efficiency. Furthermore, the proposed scheme is also compared with different types of path diversity schemes. Results of the analysis and results of the comparison proved profitability of the proposed scheme.
