Abstract
The article proposes a bifilar helical antenna for handheld terminal mobile satellite communications. The antenna characteristics obtained due to fixing the modified folded dipole antenna, proposed by Altshuler (1997), to the metal body was analyzed. In this paper, the directivity and impedance is reported. The structure of the modified folded dipole antenna and its dimensions are shown. The case in which the dimension of the metal body was variously changed was calculated. It was proven to have little effect on the directionality in the zenith direction, when the volume of the metal body increases. The omnidirectional radiation pattern was also obtained.
