Abstract
This paper gives a brief introduction to the problem of repeating or `chattering´ alarms. It describes two different approaches that have been applied by National Power in order to reduce the detrimental effects of repeating alarms on the operators work load. Both approaches are simple to apply and combined with other alarm reduction methods can make a significant improvement to a list based alarm system
