Abstract :
TRW Aeronautical Systems (Lucas Aerospace) set out to develop a high power, wide speed range variable frequency (VF) generator suitable for large civil aircraft. A high-speed oil cooled brushless generator is desirable because it will be smaller and lighter for a given output and because its higher output frequency will be more compatible with economically sized consumer equipment. The three-year program, which was part funded by the DTI under its CARAD II initiative is described
