Abstract :
A 1 MW high power density (800 W/in3) liquid-cooled inverter has been developed and manufactured by Kaman Electromagnetic Corporation to drive an axial gap permanent magnet motor. The high density is achieved by a new packaging approach which utilizes two newly developed low-inductance components: a high-ripple-current capacitor; and an IGBT/capacitor interconnection busbar. Due to the extremely low parasitic inductance, snubbers are not required
