Abstract :
A mode analysis of long-wavelength InP-based VCSELs with GaAs/AlGaAs DBR mirror is demonstrated. The optical spectrum exhibits lasing wavelength at 1.55 μm with single longitudinal mode operation. A symmetric and circular emitted beam with beam divergence of 2.2 is observed from the near-field and far-field simulation. This shows that the single mode VCSELs have high coupling efficiency with optical fiber for long-haul optical communication.
