Abstract
Investigates adaptive error correction for magnetic recording systems using a computer-controlled field programmable gate array device (FPGA). The gate array has been employed in a prototype, variable depth, error-code data interleaver. An outline of the application is given followed by performance comparisons with a software-only implementation
