Abstract :
After a reservoir is built, the reservoir water level will fluctuate due to flood prevention and power generation. The periodical rise and descent of water level will change the intrinsic geological circumstance and conditions greatly, which may result in the instability of reservoir slopes. In this study, we take a landslide located beside a reservoir on the Yellow River as an example for the case study. It was found that along with the water level fluctuation from 1865 m to 1835 m which is calculated by using the fluid flow Finite Difference Method (FDM), the transient seepage influenced by the descending of reservoir according to the reservoir water level operation options. The transient nodal point head are then used for limit equilibrium analysis of landslide, the change laws of landslide stability are discussed under different calculation conditions.
