Abstract :
This paper presents the design of front-end modules of a converter of an optical encoder and its key characteristics to detect motion in linear or rotary movement. There are four modules in this design that include logarithm amplifier, antilog converter, current comparator and voltage buffer. Every module is analyzed separately at early stage and finally a complete converter circuit is successfully designed and analyzed to produce desired output encoding and electrical characteristics within 90 e phase different between 2 channels (Bhatti, 1997).
