Abstract
Based on the whitening property of the wavelet transformation for 1/f noise, we address the problem of detecting deterministic signals in the presence of 1/f fractal noise. The transfer function of the whitening filter is provided as well as the condition for whitening, the receiver structure based on the Karhunen-Loeve expansion and decision rule is also given. Finally we discuss the problem of waveform design for an optimum binary system, and conclude that the optimum signal, at least has one vanishing moment
