Abstract
The present stage, most of the water-related environmental problems were caused by the destruction and lack of the connection within the river system. It is thus clear that the reservoir ecological operation is absolutely essential to reconstructing and restoring eco-hydrological connection within the river system and maintaining river´s healthy life and constructing a harmonious relationship between man and water. In the paper, reservoir ecological operation in the current stage was demonstrated importantly to river ecological management and restoration. Research results already made were summed up, and it was put forward that the basic concept of reservoir ecological operation, its connotation and extension, and the critical problems existing among the research process on the ecological regulation. Then the paper gave the research idea and framework of carrying out ecological regulation on single reservoir and cascade reservoirs aimed at the above problems. Finally, the priority development areas and theme about it were pointed out to help others researchers widing their thoughts.
