Abstract
SCS-CN (Soil Conserve Service-Curve Number) model was used for calculating runoff volumes of different land uses and soil types in Xiamen Island based on GIS. By using spatial extension module, overlapping and rasterizing functions of ArcView, nitrogen and phosphorus loads are calculated and displayed as spatial maps. With 12 mm rainfall, Total nitrogen and phosphorus loads for this urban runoff of Xiamen Island are 764.4 kg and 47.7 kg. Urban roads, commercial and industry zones are the main sources for nitrogen and phosphorus pollution and total of which account for 96.4% and 95.1% of the whole nitrogen and phosphorus loads of Xiamen Island individually.
