Abstract
This paper investigates the polarization behavior of the propagation channel in urban macrocell environments at 2 GHz. The study is based on a dual polarized single-input multiple-output (SIMO) measurement campaign. The measurement correction and the beamforming algorithm which computes the direction of arrivals (DoA) are explained. The analysis of power distribution as a function of different physical propagation parameters such as the elevation azimuth and delay shows that waves propagate by three typical propagation mechanisms. Thereafter, the study focuses on the polarization analysis. The average polarization matrix is computed and compared with previously published results. The polarization dependency with the physical propagation parameters is also investigated.
