Abstract
The authors describe an experimental study of gain enhancement and input characteristics for finite dielectric loaded antennas with a low dielectric constant. They show that, in the case of a rectangular parallelepiped dielectric, gain is maximum if the dimensions of the rectangular parallelepiped are approximately identical. The aperture efficiency exceeds a few hundred percent under some conditions. Dielectric loading leads to a spreading of the frequency bandwidth, and beam tilting results from deviation of the dielectric center position to the antenna.<>
