Abstract
This paper is concerned with the development of methods to maximise the performance of systems through the optimisation of their component parts, with the aim of moving the technology of signature verification forward towards a practical and realistic implementation. Also, a number of aspects of design concerning the representation of information in the context of assessing the quality of the data available to form the reference model, are addressed. It considers forms of signature representation, information representation, system design philosophies, enrolment validation of new signatures, and off-line and online validation
