  • Abstract
Language identification (LID) is the process by which the language of a digitized speech utterance is recognized by a computer. The paper attempts to discuss and compare various techniques in the field of LID that have been evaluated on standard databases. Finally the paper formulates a strategy for constructing a language identification system. It combines blind prosody-based and phonetic-based approaches.
