  • Abstract
In this paper, we present a method for jointly estimating time varying channels and detecting the sequence of information bits for space-time codes. This work is motivated by the fact that the bandwidth and power efficiency of space-time codes can be significantly degraded in the presence of channel estimation errors due to mobility and multipath. Our method does not require the use of a training sequence or any statistical assumptions on the channel characteristics. We explicitly use the knowledge of the space-time codes and therefore, fully exploit their property of space/time diversity. We present in this draft simulation examples which show the ability of the algorithm to track variations of the channels
