Abstract :
Summary form only given. The current along thin toroidal and elliptical antennas and the electromagnetic fields at and around their center are derived using the asymptotic antenna theory. Frequency- and time-domain calculations are presented. Cases of a delta -gap generator and a distributed source with the field configuration of a biconical wave launcher are considered. The field uniformity in the working volume is calculated as a function of frequency for different geometrical configurations. For the case of the elliptical geometry, parametric studies to analyze the dependence of the field behavior on loading resistance, ellipticity, and wire thickness are performed.<>
