  • Abstract
A technique for electrocardiogram (ECG) synthesis is described. The synthesizer is based on identifying several characteristic points by their zero first derivative. It describes the ECG signal morphology by piecewise cubic approximation and incorporates routines to alter the basic signal with power-line and random noise errors. The technique has been implemented on a personal computer and is general enough to allow the synthesized signal to be used for testing of QRS detection and pattern recognition algorithms
