Abstract :
The authors describe the stages of a methodology employed to acquaint students in automatic control with the opportunities presented by symbolic calculus in formulating computerized versions for many notable theoretical results, which become powerful design tools. A symbolic mathematics package devoted to control problems was developed. Some illustrative laboratory experiments allow a thorough understanding of the perspectives opened by Al advances
