Abstract
The phenomenon that the probability density function (PDF) of the velocity of the boundary-crossing subscribers is different from that of all other subscribers has already been known for a long time (called biased sampling). This paper investigates the implication of this phenomenon with regard to the channel holding time and thus to the signaling traffic. A significant impact on analytical performance evaluations of mobile communication systems can be observed
