Abstract :
Theoretical investigation on a band pass frequency selective surface (FSS) constituting two layers of FSS each with inductive grid elements over dielectric substrates and air gap of varying thickness between them is presented in this paper. Using the proposed technique, FSS with very huge bandwidth and a nearly flat bandpass response (less than 6 dB of variation) can be designed. The proposed design has been investigated theoretically using ANSOFT Designer®. The structure operating on Ku band (12-18 GHz) has a number of applications including improvement of the gain of antenna operating in the Ku band, Radomes used for satellite communication, spacecraft etc.
