Abstract :
This paper addresses a new type of Internet video sharing platform-VideoFarm for e-learning. In addition to just playing user uploaded video clips, the VideoFarm also displays the associated information of currently playing video contents. The associated information includes: briefings, outlines, discussion, Q & A, and comments of the video clip. In order to overcome the lack of hierarchical content structure in video-sharing website, we propose a new content upload mechanism, that a user may specify and construct a hierarchical structure for video upload and storage. A prototype of VideoFarm has been implemented at for public trial, evaluation, comments, and suggestions. Experimental results show that students participating the proposed video-based e-learning achieved slight better scores than the students in traditional e-learning classes. In addition, since VideoFarm e-learning including interactive mechanism, therefore this type of study not only has the advantages of flexible learning time schedules, but also provides Q and A features, as general classroom teaching and learning.
