Abstract :
In Ad Hoc network, transport protocol design is appearing to the research surface with quite innovative conceptions. TCP, a widely used protocol in the wired world, is not suitable for Ad Hoc Networks. To prevail over this problem researchers have provided many solutions that are either variants of TCP or independent of TCP. ATP is one of the protocols designed for ad hoc network independent of TCP. However, ATP has lossless links and fixed epoch time as its limitations. In general, wireless links are lossy and bandwidth has impact on epoch time. The work in this paper depicts a modified ATP (MATP) protocol, which considers lossy wireless links and adjust epoch timer according to the different wireless bandwidths. Results are obtained in terms of throughput, success rate and energy consumption metrics. Experiments are performed for different network size. Success rate & energy consumption of MATP is proved better than its existing counterpart.
