Abstract :
We have applied the Legendre transformation technique combined with the aperture shading condition to frequency invariant beamformer (FIB) design, and obtained satisfying results. Starting with the desired array pattern and culminating with the reconstruction of sensor weights, the design procedure is suitable for an arbitrary desired array pattern with sufficient accuracy and simplicity. The algorithm may be extended to the design of a frequency variant beamformer and then it is feasible to apply our design procedure to nearfield FIB design, which can be transformed to the design of a far-field frequency variant beamformer.
