Abstract
To obtain improved conductivity and enhanced surface area for polymer-based electrode materials, composite materials of polymer and carbons were studied. Composite electrode materials were prepared by the electrodeposition of polypyrrol with carbon powder suspended in the electrolyzer, or by the electrodeposition of polypyrrol on active carbon fiber. The charge capacity of the composite as a cathode was found to be remarkably improved compared with polypyrrol alone. Also, carbon powder was kneaded with Teflon binder to form a sheet electrode, which then was processed by reduction treatment in acetonitrile. The treatment was found to be effective in improving the anodic capacity of the sheet
