Abstract :
The traditional static scheduling method used in most manufacturing shops is inefficient and inflexible. A novel prediction and schedule generating system based on the discrete event simulation model(DESM) is presented in this paper to substitute for the traditional method. The presented DESM is able to predict the future states of a kind of reentrant production systems with constrained resources. Through the extension, the DESM is able to be started from any initial state. A novel schedule generating system is also proposed through combining the proper search algorithm with the prediction by DESM. The comparison results show that the productivity and the response to accidents can be improved by using the proposed system.
