Abstract :
The use of 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane (TCE) as catholyte in lithium primary cells has been described in the literature. The effect of cosolvent variation on the performance of AA-size Li/TCE cells with spiral-wound electrode design was investigated. Variation in catholyte cosolvent was shown to significantly affect maintenance of discharge capacity. Significant discharge capacity was demonstrated at -40°C for Li/TCE cells with a tetrahydrofuran (THF)-containing catholyte
