Abstract :
A thin radar absorbing material using a stacked ring-patch array is proposed. The structure is planar, thin, broadband, and easy to design and fabricate. The structure is analyzed by simulations and experiments. The results demonstrate that the proposed structure acts as an absorber with a thickness of λ/24 at frequency 8GHz. Experimental results shows that, the structure exhibits 7% bandwidth at 10dB level. Its properties are evaluated by investigating the incident wave reflection characteristics, using CST microwave studio. The geometry is scalable to operate in different frequency ranges.
