Abstract
The objectives of this paper are: (1) to develop a fuel cell dynamic model for electric vehicle applications (2) to investigate the fuel cell dynamic response to various load variations, and (3) to design a reliable and robust controller for a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCV). The fuel cell model and controller are developed in MATLAB/Simulink. A two loop controller is proposed in this paper. To validate the developed dynamic model and the proposed controller, the simulated results are compared to the experimental data from the fuel cell available at the Alternative Energy Lab here at West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVUTech).
