Abstract
Electric filters are often employed in receivers for IM/DD multi-amplified optical fiber communication systems to minimize amplitude distortion caused by noise accumulation. However, if the regime of propagation is nonlinear, the filter bandwidth has to be optimized taking into account the additional distortion related to nonlinear effects. This work investigates the influence of post-detection filter bandwidth on BER in the presence of self-phase modulation.
