Abstract
In this paper, a CMOS digitized wind transducer with noise insensitivity for wind environmental applications is newly proposed. The proposed chip is attractive due to the fact that it can monitor the present wind conditions and then quickly response to controllers or computers by combing various wind sensors with the proposed digitized wind transducer together. The output signal of the proposed chip is a pulse stream, it could be easily sent over a wide range of transmission media, such as package switch network, radio, optical, infrared, ultrasonic, and so on. Different to previous works, the proposed chip is suitable for processing at a varied range of wind speed and also insensitivity to wind noise for wind environmental monitoring applications. All the functions and performance of the proposed digitized wind transducer are successfully tested and proven through measurements and confirmed it to be applied on the flowers in greenhouse applications. The measured range of wind speed is from 2.2 to 8 m/s, and its corresponding measured signal-to-noise-distortion ratio is obtained from 53.6 to 74.6 dB. The chip area is 1.2 × 2.2 mm2 . The proposed chip is suitable for wind environmental monitoring devices, such as wireless sensor network devices.
