Abstract
Chaoyang district is a typical low mountainous and hilly area where soil and water loss is serious. From the point of view of geological environment, this article has analyzed the influence of geology factors such as topography, rock properties, tectonic, etc. on soil and water loss in Chaoyang district. The geological condition is one of important influence factor on soil and water loss in hilly area. Rock property determines corrosion resistance, water conservation and storage capacity of the earth´s surface. Neotectonic movement provides potential for water and water loss. The intensity and speed of soil and water loss is proportional to terrain slope. Systematic research on geological factors such as soil parent material, the rock and the geological structure, etc, will be helpful to a comprehensive understanding of the reasons for the soil and water loss in hilly area, and make effective countermeasure.
