Abstract :
This paper describes a frequency-band selection/switching technique and its application to multi-mode wireless transceiver circuits. The technique utilizes voltage-controlled variable inductors and resistors for, respectively, changing input/output impedance and load of the transceiver´s key-circuits in accordance with the mode´s frequency. Preliminary results for several 0.18 μm-BiCMOS building block circuits including RF amplifiers and up/down mixers show feasibility of the approach proposed in multi-mode transceiver systems.
