Abstract :
A compact single-arm microstrip square spiral antenna with tuning arms is presented. Measurements indicate that this antenna provides operating characteristics comparable to those of a traditional microstrip patch antenna while significantly reducing the antenna´s physical extent and conductor area. These antennas are suitable for applications in portable communication devices or phased arrays.
