Abstract :
This paper describes a new strategy for controlling the tilt angle and side lobe level of array antennas by using a genetic algorithm. The fitness function takes into account not only the switching of the elements, but the level of amplitude and phase excitation. An example considering a linear array of 40 elements is presented. Results show not only a pattern with main lobes in the desired direction, but a very low sidelobe level of -32.9 dB.
